Lunch time at the mulch pile

It is important to teach appropriate use of the mulch pile ;)

It is important to teach appropriate use of the mulch slide I mean pile 😉

A mulch pile is a very important asset for your school and garden program. It provides a typically free resource (local tree loppers have to pay to dump mulch) to:

  • build soil structure and fertility
  • prevent weeds
  • prevention against moisture loss
  • a reliable habitat for soil organism discovery and investigation
  • an ongoing meaningful task for students that they can do with minimal supervision that they absolutely love doing.

They get to use shovels and wheelbarrows, climb mountains, build caves, and microbial powered ovens etc etc. Get yourself a mulch pile
